Site description (2003 baseline)
Coastal zone and hills used by the community for dryland agriculture area which is passed on from generation to generation. Land use is managed using traditional law, which also valid for marine resources. Most of the people work as dry land farmer, and also fisherman. Main comodities are coconut, clove, coffee, nutmeg and marine products.
Key biodiversity
Little Kai White-eye Zosterops uropygialis only found in Kai Besar Island.
Non-bird biodiversity: The important fauna in Kai Besar Island is Thylogale brunii graciis that only lives on forested area.
