Site description (2000 baseline)
An area of fen-dominated flood-plain interspersed with reedbed (Phragmites) and Salix/Betula scrub. Human activities include reed-cutting (`Other' land-use), boating and hunting (not of birds).

Key biodiversity
Important as a stop-over site for passage wildfowl as well as for breeding species of wet meadows. Breeding species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Crex crex (2-4 pairs).
