Site description (2000 baseline)
Predominantly intensively used arable land with a widespread system of ditches containing reeds Phragmites.

Key biodiversity
The site holds 20,000 or more waterbirds on passage, on a regular basis, including Pluvialis apricaria (8,826), Vanellus vanellus (9,363), Larus ridibundus (14,514) and Larus canus (11,764).
