Site description (2000 baseline)
The site is part of the Bremer wet-grassland belt, comprising agricultural meadows and pasture traversed by ditches. Areas of reed Phragmites and wet scrub are found between the Senator-Appelt-Straße and Neustädter harbour.

Key biodiversity
This site is also an important habitat for breeding and passage waterbirds and waders. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Crex crex (breeding).
