Site summary
The site covers a large bay with a predominantly developed shoreline. Water-fringe vegetation has largely been destroyed. An important wintering site for waterbirds, particularly Great Crested Grebe and ducks. Breeding Goosander are part of a genetically separate alpine population. The main threat is disturbance from boats. The site is protected from hunting by cantonal legislation.
