Site summary
Lake Mâl is located in a depression at Oued Guéllouâr, 80 km east-southeast of the town of Aleg and southeast of Magta 'Lahjar. The lake is permanent and is fed by seasonal rainfall from numerous ephemeral streams, mainly Oued Leye, which drains a catchment area of 700 km². The size of the lake varies from a maximum of around 5,250 ha at the end of the rainy season to around 870 ha at the end of the dry season.
