Site description (2019 baseline)
This IBA is situated in eastern Serbia encompassing territories of Pirot, Dimitrovgrad and Knjaževac municipalities. Roughly, it lies between Bulgarian state border and Pirotsko polje. This high altitude region is characterized by steep valleys, upland pastures, broadlived and mixed forests with mostly short rivers. It is of tectonic origin. The limestone rigge and cliffs of Vidlič Mt is streched almost 25 km in NW-SE direction. The Visočica River, with its tributaries, forms the densest drainage network in Serbia.
