Site summary
The site boundary is based upon a seaward extension of 71 km around Gaferut Island to encompass the foraging range of IBA threshold numbers of Brown Booby based upon a 2002 population estimate of 3,000 individuals from Wiles, G.J., Johnson, N.C.. de Cruz, J.B., Dutson, G., Camacho, V.A., Kepler, A.K., Vice, D.S., Garrett, K.L., Kessler, C.C. and Pratt, H.D. (2004): New and Noteworthy Bird Records for Micronesia, 1986–2003. Micronesica 37(1): 69-96.
