Site description (2007 baseline)
An extensive upland plateau that is the dominant geographical feature of County Antrim. It supports fine remnant semi-natural Quercus woodlands and is drained by fast-flowing streams, including the rivers of the famous nine glens of Antrim. Human activities include commercial peat extraction. The area supports a typical assemblage of upland species and is also important for Phylloscopus sibilatrix.
