Site description (2000 baseline)
The easternmost island of the Cyclades. A rugged, rocky island, including Mount Krikelos. The south-east of the island has steep cliffs. Vegetation cover includes scrub, maquis, phrygana and remnant Quercus forest. A number of rocky islets fall within the site. Human activities include livestock-farming, tourism, fishing, and hunting.
Key biodiversity
The site is important for breeding and passage raptors, and species associated with cliffs and scrub.
