This newly-split species is occurs on a single island, where its population is relatively small and is inferred to be in an ongoing decline owing to logging. It has therefore been classified as Vulnerable.

Population size: 2500-9999 mature individuals

Population trend: decreasing

Extent of occurrence (breeding/resident): 4,300 km2

Country endemic: yes
