Justification of Red List category
This poorly known and apparently highly localised species is thought to have a moderately small population which may be declining owing to habitat loss; it therefore is classified as Near Threatened. If it was found to be more numerous than currently known it may be downlisted.

Population trend: Decreasing

Distribution size (breeding/resident): 721,000 km2

Country endemic: No

Land-mass type - shelf island - Continental islands include all other islands or island groups. Generally they were once part of continents and lie on a continental shelf of < 200 m sea depth.
