Justification of Red List category
This species has a small range, being known from only nine forest areas, varying considerably in size (3-250 km²), within the Udzungwa Mountains. Suitable habitat both within and outside protected areas is declining in extent and quality as a result of forest clearance and degradation (Collar and Stuart 1985). The species is therefore listed as Vulnerable.
