Justification of Red List category
This species has a highly restricted range, being restricted to a single island, and is suspected to be declining as a result of habitat loss. As it is able to persist in degraded secondary habitats, the magnitude of this decline is unlikely to be great, but the situation should be carefully monitored for any future changes in the rate of habitat loss. It is currently considered Near Threatened.
