Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is described as widespread and common on Madagascar (del Hoyo et al. 2006).
Trend justification: This population is suspected to be in decline owing to high rates of nest predation by rats on in the Comoros (del Hoyo et al. 2006).
