Population justification: No extant population remains.
Trend justification: The species was once common on Guam, but it became restricted to the northern plateau by the 1970s (Jenkins 1983, Hume 2017). However, it plummeted to extinction (Collar et al. 1994) in 1983, when the last individual was captured for potential captive propagation (Jaffe 1997, Hume 2017). No other birds could be found however and the last individual died in captivity the following year (Hume 2017).
