Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is described as fairly common (Stotz et al. 1996, Zimmer et al. 2020). Given its extremely large range with vast areas of suitable habitat, the population is unlikely to be small.
Trend justification: Its preference for second growth and edge habitat suggests that it is currently not at risk (Zimmer et al. 2020). Therefore, in the absence of evidence for any declines or substantial threats, the population is suspected to be stable.
