Tormos reservoir (La Sotonera)


Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A reservoir with a strongly fluctuating water-level. There is marsh vegetation along some of the banks and the reservoir is surrounded by cereal fields.



Key biodiversity
An important wintering site for wildfowl. The site is a major migratory bottleneck, where more than 20,000 cranes regularly pass in spring.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Threats include high hunting pressure and disturbance from tourists.
