Site description (2000 baseline)
A dyked fjord/lagoon area (a failed land-reclamation project) with saltmarshes, meadows (partly cultivated), reedbeds and plantation areas.
Key biodiversity
No recent data are available as the area is not well surveyed or monitored. Circus aeruginosus, Recurvirostra avosetta, Philomachus pugnax and Sterna albifrons, listed on Annex I of the EC Birds Directive, bred at the site in 1983.
