Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
An area of mountains and a river valley. The mountain slopes are dominated by sclerophyllous scrub. The river valley has large dehesas, and some grassland, arable cultivation and olive-groves. The main human activities are livestock-grazing and hunting.
This is an important wintering area for
Grus grus and breeding site for raptors.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threat is from industrial activity in Peñalgordo, which causes high levels of disturbance to breeding raptors.
