Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A low mountain in northern Evia, with extensive conifer forests, mixed forests and scrub. Human activities include forestry, livestock-farming, and hunting.



Key biodiversity
This is an important site for breeding raptors and for passage migrants.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are from road construction and tourism developments. Other threats are from overgrazing, quarrying and agricultural and urban expansion.



Protected areas
National Partial International NonePart of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Iera Moni Galtaki, 900 ha). Part of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Palioplatana/Dafnontos-Pagontos-Kamaritsas, 2,500 ha).
