Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
Several small islands covered mainly with tundra and dwarf-shrub heath vegetation, as well as some small lakes and bogs. Egg-collecting takes place (`Other' land-use).



Key biodiversity
The archipelago is also important as a staging area for passage waders. Cepphus grylle breeds (179 pairs, 1996) and Rhodostethia rosea occasionally breeds.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Egg-collecting is a problem.



Protected areas
National Partial International PartialThe skerries in the north-western part of the IBA are designated as a Breeding Reserve for Birds. IBA overlaps with Ramsar Site (Kitsissunnguit).
