Site description (2002 baseline):
Site location and context
This site is found in the parish of Trelawny. It is denoted as a forest reserve by the Forestry Department. It is surrounded by other mountain ranges such as the Vale Royal Mountain, Covey Mountain and the Discovery Mountain. Located in the altitudinal range of 300 - 600m and the annual rainfall range is 1500mm - 2000mm.
The area provides habitat for most of the endemic species such as the Arrow - headed Warbler, Black-Billed Parrot, Thw White-Eyed, and White-Chinned Thrushes, as well as it is home to the Vulnerable plain Pigeon. Other resident species can be found there as well such the Bananaquit and Caribbean Dove.
The area is noted to be comprised of three forest types, Primary, or Closed Broadleaf Forest, Secondary or Disturbed Broadleaf Forest and Disturbed Broadleaf Forests with Fields.
