Site description (2000 baseline):

An area of open sea and an estuary with mudflats, saltmarshes and sandy beaches. Agriculture and cattle-raising are the main human activities.

This is an important site for wintering seabirds and waders.

Disturbance is caused by recreational activities, particularly boating.
