Cenwang Laoshan Nature Reserve


Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context
Cenwang Laoshan is located in north-western Guangxi Autonomous Region, on the border of Tianlin and Lingyun counties, and at the edge of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. The vegetation has prominent vertical zonation, with a large area of stunted high-mountain forest, coniferous-broadleaf mixed forest, evergreen deciduous forest and commercially-exploited forest.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected plants include Fokienia hodginsii and Emmenopterys henryi. Nationally protected animals include Python molurus, Andrias davidianus, Manis pentadactyla, Macaca mulatto, Viverra zibetha, Viverricula indica and Moschus berezovskii.



Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Established as a county-level nature reserve in 1982, and proposed for upgrading to a national nature reserve in 2003.
