Mixed woodland with heathland, ponds, Populus groves and bocage.



Key biodiversity
This is an important area for forest and heathland birds.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are recreation, afforestation with conifers, and stag hunting until the end of March, which disturbs early breeding species.



Protected areas
National None International High5,950 ha of IBA covered by Ramsar Site (La Brenne, 140,000 ha).
