Site location and context
The IBA is located in the north-western part of the Astrakhan region, near the boundary with Kazakhstan.
Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
In 1997 on the 18478 ha of existing Zakaznik the new Zapovednik (with the same name) were established, which means that 18478 ha is now under the strict protection.
