Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
An area of grassland which is flooded in winter, and cut for silage in the spring and summer. The site was included within a larger IBA (formerly LU002) in the previous international IBA inventory (Grimmett and Jones 1989).



Key biodiversity
An important autumn roosting site for Grus grus, the only site within a 200 km range. The area is also nationally important for migrating waterbirds, although numbers are small, including wintering Anser fabalis (100-150 birds). Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Crex crex (breeding).



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
11 ha of IBA covered by proposed Natural Reserve (Lannebur, 11 ha).
