Site description (2000 baseline)
An area of grassland which is flooded in winter, and cut for silage in the spring and summer. The site was included within a larger IBA (formerly LU002) in the previous international IBA inventory (Grimmett and Jones 1989).

Key biodiversity
An important autumn roosting site for Grus grus, the only site within a 200 km range. The area is also nationally important for migrating waterbirds, although numbers are small, including wintering Anser fabalis (100-150 birds).
