Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is described as uncommon in east Sudan, fairly common in south-east Sudan and frequent to common in the Ethiopian highlands (del Hoyo et al. 2007).

Trend justification: The population is suspected to be stable in the absence of evidence for any current declines or substantial threats.
