Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is reported to be fairly common to common or scarce on Papua New Guinea and common (though very restricted) in Australia (Coates 1990, Flegg and Madge 1995).
Trend justification: The population is suspected to be stable in the absence of evidence for any declines or substantial threats.
