Taxonomic note

Trachylaemus purpuratus, T. goffinii and T. togoensis (del Hoyo and Collar 2014) were previously placed in the genus Trachyphonus and lumped as Trachyphonus purpuratus following Sibley and Monroe (1990, 1993).
