Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is described as generally uncommon to rare, although common in Liberia and locally common in Gabon, Ghana and north -eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (del Hoyo et al. 2004).

Trend justification: The population is estimated to be in decline following recorded decreases in Cote d'Ivoire and Ghana (del Hoyo et al. 2004).
