Population justification: The population size is unknown, but the species is described as common and widespread in the central and eastern Himalayas, although scarce in the western Himalayas; uncommon in Nagaland, and China, fairly common to common in western and northern Myanmar and a rare non-breeding visitor to Bangladesh (del Hoyo et al. 2006).

Trend justification: The population is suspected to be stable in the absence of evidence for any declines or substantial threats.
