Population justification: While potentially scarce (Collar 2016), population density estimates for congeners (see Collar 2016) and assuming it inhabits only a proportion of its habitat, would still lead to this species having a population size of >>10,000 mature individuals, placed here in the range of 20,000-49,999 mature individuals.
Trend justification: Anthropogenic habitat alteration has occurred within this region (BirdLife International 2016), but it not certain whether this has affected this species's montane habitat. Therefore, the population is tentatively considered stable.
