Population justification: In Liberia, the population is estimated to number c.6,000 pairs (Fry 2020), roughly equivalent to 18,000 individuals. Conservatively, this is taken to constitute 25-49% of the species's range, so a the population is preliminarily suspected to be 36,000-72,000 individuals. It is precautionarily placed in the band 20,000-49,999 mature individuals.
Trend justification: The population is inferred to be in decline owing to extensive clearance and degradation of forest across its range. Based on data from Global Forest Watch (2020), the rate of population decline is suspected to fall into the band of 20-29% over the next three generations.
