Justification of Red List category
This species is suspected to have a small population, within a small range, that may be declining as a result of invasive nest predators. Its population size is currently suspected to be sufficiently large to not warrant this species to be listed under a threatened category, but it may approach this threshold. Its range is not severely fragmented and there is uncertainty over the number of locations the species is found. Therefore, it is listed as Near Threatened.

Population size: 10000-19999

Population trend: Decreasing

Extent of occurrence (breeding/resident): 1,300 km2

Country endemic: Yes
