Population justification: The global population is inferred to number 5,800,000 mature individuals (Partners in Flight 2019).
Trend justification: The species has had stable trends between 1970 and 2017 (Partners in Flight 2019). Short-term trends suggest a rapid increase in the population in North America over the past ten years; however the population size is fluctuating annually (Pardieck et al. 2018). The species is therefore tentatively assessed as stable.
