LC
Eastern Yellow-spotted Barbet Buccanodon duchaillui

Taxonomy

Taxonomic note
Boesman and Collar (2019) establish Buccanodon dowsetti as a split from B. duchaillui based on voice and tail length. Pending reaction from the ornithological community to splits based entirely on voice, it appears appropriate to accept the validity of these new species given their meeting of the Tobias criteria.

Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is reported to be reasonably common to uncommon (del Hoyo et al. 2002).

Trend justification:

The species is tentatively assessed as being in decline due to habitat loss per Tracewski et al. (2016).
