Population justification: The population size is unknown, but the species is described as locally common within its tiny range (del Hoyo et al. 2006).

Trend justification: The population is suspected to be in decline owing to ongoing habitat destruction. However, recent fieldwork and mist-netting have revealed that it is more abundant than previously thought (BirdLife International 2001).
