Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is described as fairly common in the highlands of Myanmar and northern Thailand and scarce in China (del Hoyo et al. 2005).

Trend justification: The population is suspected to be increasing as the species benefits from slash-and-burn agriculture (del Hoyo et al. 2005).
