Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is reported to be very abundant (for example in Louang, Laos) to rare (north-eastern Bangladesh). Areas where it is common make up only a small part of its range (Lambert and Woodcock 1996).
Trend justification: The population is suspected to be in decline owing to ongoing habitat destruction.
