Population justification: The global population is suspected to number 50,000-499,999 mature individuals (Partners in Flight 2022). The species is described as uncommon to fairly common or locally abundant over most of its range (del Hoyo et al. 1999, Schulenberg and Sedgwick 2020).

Trend justification: The population trend has not been investigated, but due to its dependence on forest declines are suspected as a consequence of logging and habitat conversion. Tree cover loss within the range is very low (2% over ten years; Global Forest Watch 2022, using Hansen et al. [2013] data and methods disclosed therein). Population declines are therefore suspected to be similarly low; they are here tentatively placed in the band 1-9% over ten years.
