Population justification: The global population size has not been quantified, but the species is reported to be common over most of its range (del Hoyo et al. 1999), while the population in China has been estimated at c.10,000-100,000 breeding pairs (Brazil 2009).

Trend justification: The population is suspected to be increasing as ongoing habitat degradation is creating new areas of suitable habitat.
