IBAs in Danger

Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas in Danger

As of 2016, the BirdLife International Partnership has identified 422 Important Bird and Biodiversity Areas (IBAs) in Danger, across over 100 countries and territories around the world as well as in the High Seas. This list builds on the decades of work undertaken by our Partnership to identify and safeguard the most important sites for birds and biodiversity. These 422 sites represent a subset of the more than 12,000 IBAs and have been identified as being those under great threat and in need of immediate action.
