Site description
A stagnant freshwater lake to the west and east of the Schelde-Rhine river connection (shipping lane), which developed after the building of the Oesterdam at the eastern end of the Oosterschelde (028) in 1986. In the south-east the site is adjacent to Lake Markiezaat (030). This site, together with sites 028 and 030, formed part of a single, larger site (former site NL050) in the previous pan-European IBA inventory (Grimmett and Jones 1989).
Key biodiversity
The site is a roost for geese Anser from surrounding feeding areas, but no counts are available.
