Site description (baseline)
Located on the cape of south-western Hainan, the IBA is the second largest nationally-managed salt pan in China; salt pans of a similar scale have become scarce in southern China. The salt pans have recently been abandoned and have subsequently become a roosting site for some 20,000 migratory waterbirds.
