Site description
This Marine IBA is identified using seaward extensions around breeding colonies. It originates from the Namibia Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and falls within the Atlantic, Southeast FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 10829 km2 and is 22 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 159 m, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 14.33 and 16.6 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 1.57 and 16.03 mg/m3.

Key biodiversity
4 species trigger IBA criteria at this Marine IBA. Seaward extensions around breeding colonies; Cape Cross lagoon, Walvis Bay, Mile 4 saltworks, 30-Kilometre Beach: Walvis - Swakopmund include key near-colony areas for breeding populations of Caspian Tern (LC) , Cape Cormorant (NT) , Kelp Gull (LC) 360-360 individuals and Damara Tern (NT) 234-324 individuals.
