Site description
Lowland hay-meadows that are flooded in winter, along a small stream with natural eutrophic lakes. The site was included within a larger IBA (formerly LU002) in the previous international IBA inventory (Grimmett and Jones 1989).



Key biodiversity
This is the most important site for Crex crex in Luxembourg. Milvus migrans, Alcedo atthis and Lanius collurio, listed on Annex I of the Bird Directive, also breed.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
An LIFE programme to conserve Crex crex has been funded by the EU.



Protected areas
National Low International Partial20 ha of IBA covered by Natural Reserve (Schifflange-Brill, 20 ha). 353 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Roeser-Roeserbann, 353 ha). 20 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Schifflange-Brill, 20 ha).
