It originates from the Russia (Asian) Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and falls within the Pacific, Northwest FAO ocean region. The site covers an area of 7816 km2 and is 44 km away from the closet coastline. The depth ranges from 0 to 424 m, with a mean annual wind speed of 2.07 m/s, mean annual sea surface temperature falls between 5.79 and 7.75 °C and mean annual chlorophyll-a concentrations found to range between 1.52 and 4.11 mg/m3.
